SMILEquity for Teens

As young people become more independent and transition to adulthood, oral health education is essential. SMILEquity for Teens provides comprehensive education on preventive care, and the impact of lifestyle choices like smoking and vaping.

With the growing influence of social media on body image, SMILEquity promotes positive self-esteem and confidence through interactive workshops. Our programmes emphasise the connection between oral health, mental health and overall wellbeing. By educating and empowering young people, SMILEquity aims to foster lifelong habits for a healthy smile, promote good mental health, and a positive self-image.

Understanding body image and mental health is vital during adolescence, a period marked by heightened self-awareness and sensitivity to appearance. Our program includes discussions on how oral health impacts self-esteem and confidence, especially in the context of social media influence and peer perceptions. We provide tools for managing stress and promoting a positive self-image, including workshops on building self-confidence, managing social pressures, and positive self- affirmation.

How SMILEquity Adds Value:

  • Interactive Learning: Engage students with hands-on activities and focused discussions that make oral health education fun and memorable.

  • Expert Guidance: Led by Dr Marjani, a qualified dentist, our sessions provide expert dental knowledge tailored for young audiences.

  • Preventative Focus: We emphasise the prevention of tooth decay and gum disease, teaching young people the importance of brushing, interdental cleaning, and healthy eating through hands-on activities.

  • Understanding dentistry and choices: We explain the differences between comprehensive dental care and aesthetic procedures, including popular social trends.

  • Accessibility: We bring our workshops directly to schools making it convenient for students to participate.

  • Educational Resources: Health education is part of the KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum.

  • Enhanced DBS: All trainers have enhanced DBS.
